Mt. Pleasant Avenue Project Updates

September 9, 2025

Wyoming has received funding for the road project. This will allow the roadway and sidewalk project to move forward in 2026. To prepare for a sidewalk on the north side of Mt. Pleasant Ave, Duke Energy will need to move power poles to the south side of Mt. Pleasant Ave. Duke Energy will begin removing trees Monday, September 15 to allow for the relocation of power poles. 

Water main work will begin in January 2026. Road work will begin in the spring construction season 2026.  

July 31, 2025

The water main project contract was awarded to Welsch Excavation. Work scheduled to begin later this fall. The roadway work is contingent on a SORTA grant application but is anticipated for 2026 or 2027 construction. Utility relocation work to begin in late August. 

July 24, 2025

The Mt. Pleasant Water main replacement project was awarded to Welsch Excavation for just under $1.5 million at the July 21, 2025 council meeting.  Work will include the replacement of the water main on Mt. Pleasant along with service line replacements for each property.  This project is scheduled to begin in August.  

The roadwork portion of the project will follow and be bid separately.  The roadway construction work is scheduled for 2026.

A SORTA grant application has been submitted for roadway and sidewalk funding. A water main replacement project will be out for bid in June with the intent to construct the new water main in advance of the roadway project.
