Leaf Pick Up/Mulch Program/Storm Damage

Leaves

The dates of the spring and fall curbside leaf pick-up are always published annually in several ways including but not limited to mail, electronic newsletter, website, and social media outlets. Leaf piles should be leaves only, do not bag your leaves. Keep all grass, brush clippings, and other debris (rocks, gravel, trash, metal, etc.) out of the leaf piles. Leaf piles containing such debris will not be picked up. Such debris can damage leaf collection equipment and injure the employees.

Leaves should be placed just behind the curb in your yard. If at all possible, extend the leaves no more than 6’ behind the edge of the pavement so the equipment can reach them. Do not place leaves in the street. Leaves in the street are a traffic hazard and during storms cause flooding in the streets and clog storm water catch basins. Leaf piles blocked by parked cars cannot be reached by the equipment and will be left until the next time the crew is on your street.

The City’s goal is to service each street weekly during the scheduled spring and fall leaf collection periods.

Leaf Mulch

Leaves are composted and ground by the Public Works Department and offered to residents beginning on the first Monday of March. You may call the City Building at 513-821-7600 to place an order for mulch beginning at 8 am on the first Monday in March each year. Telephone and electronic orders are accepted to assure the accuracy of the location where you want your mulch dumped. Orders are taken until the mulch is gone. Please check the website regularly or sign up for a newsletter subscription for reminders of the start of “Mulch Madness.”

Please consider making a donation to the City; the donations are used to offset the cost of purchasing new trees that are planted throughout the City. Donations may be mailed or delivered to the City Building (800 Oak Avenue). Donations may be made by checks made payable to the City of Wyoming, by cash, or by Discover, Visa, Master Card, or American Express. To make a donation by using your credit card by telephone, please call the Customer Service & Finance Department at 513-821-8044 or 513-821-7600. To print a mulch donation form click.

Storm Damage Yard Waste Pickup Policy (adopted September 2015)

After a severe weather event, the City Manager will make the decision if there will be a City-sponsored pick up of storm debris. Residents can call the City Building on the first business day following the storm (Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm) at 513-821-7600 or email Customer Service to ask if there will be a City-sponsored pickup. These pick-ups will be done by the Public Works Department, not Rumpke. Storm debris must be placed at the curb and cut into manageable pieces and small debris is to be placed in paper yard waste bags, in a trash can with handles and lid, or bundled.
