Employee Benefits
Full-time City employees receive a competitive package of wages and benefits. Most employees are covered by the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) or the Police and Fire Disability and Pension Fund. Seasonal, temporary, part-time, and Volunteer Fire-EMS employees are not eligible for any benefits other than those required by applicable state and/or federal laws.

Group Health and Prescription Insurance
Employee contribution is required for participation in group medical and prescription insurance. The City provides a Christ Network Plan and a TriHealth/St. Elizabeth Network Plan.

Dental and Vision Insurance
While there is no City contribution towards the cost of coverage for dental and vision insurance, a group arrangement with Principal Insurance has been established to offer comprehensive dental and vision care at a competitive rate.
The City provides members of the AFSCME union dental, vision, and optical insurance through Ohio AFSCME Care Plan as described in the current AFSCME contract.

Life Insurance
The City provides basic term life to all full-time employees at no cost. The value of the life insurance is one times the employee’s base salary up to $150,000 for full-time employees.

Paid Holidays and Personal Days
Eligible full-time employees receive the following paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
The City Manager is authorized to designate alternative days to observe those holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday. In addition, an employee’s birthday is deemed a holiday for which the employee is credited with a personal day to be used in the same calendar year.
Employees represented by a bargaining unit are paid for holidays in accordance with their respective collective bargaining agreements.
Personal Days
Eligible non-union, full-time employees are eligible to take three personal days during each calendar year.

Sick Leave
Each full-time employee shall be credited with 10 hours of sick leave per calendar month of service, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.

Vacation Leave
The vacation year runs from January 1 to December 31. Vacation benefits are based on full-time continuous service.

Full-time employees with continuous service to the City are eligible for paid vacation benefits according to the following schedule:

New hires starting work during the month of January will receive 12 days of paid vacation leave, those starting work in February will receive 11 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of March will receive 10 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of April, will receive 9 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of May, will receive 8 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of June will receive 7 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of July will receive 6 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of August will receive 5 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of September will receive 4 days of paid vacation leave, those stating during the month of October will receive 3 days of paid vacation leave, those starting during the month of November will receive 2 days of paid vacation leave, and those starting during the month of December will receive 1 day of paid vacation leave for the year they start working at the City of Wyoming.
Bereavement Leave
In the event of a death in an employee’s immediate family, full-time employees may take up to three consecutive work days not deducted from paid leave time, one of which must be the day of the funeral, and can take up to three additional sick leave days, vacation days, or comp days which will be deducted from the applicable leave balance.

Longevity Pay
At the discretion of the City Manager, and upon evidence of merit, each regular, full-time employee in the City service with three or more years of full-time continuous service shall be eligible for longevity pay. Longevity pay begins on completion of the 4th year of full-time service.

Retirement Pick Up
For eligible full-time employees who are covered by the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), the City of Wyoming will pay on the employee’s behalf, a maximum of 10% of the statutorily required employee contribution to OPERS. Visit the OPERS website for additional information.
Eligible Police Department personnel contribute to the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund (OP&F). Visit the OP&F website for additional information.

Deferred Compensation
Deferred compensation plans can provide you with a tax-sheltered, supplemental retirement plan, and flexible investment program. Contributions to these accounts are completely voluntary and there is no City match. The City offers four programs through which employees may choose to set aside a portion of their income for retirement: ICMA, Ohio Deferred Compensation, AXA Advisors, and FTJ. These programs allow employees to invest part of their income on a tax-deferred basis within the limits specified by federal law.
Employee Assistance Program
Employees and their eligible family members have access to free, confidential, professional counseling services through the City’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Curalinc. The program offers assistance, counseling, and/or referral for a variety of issues that affect employees and their family members in person, virtually, and via text message.
Employee Wellness Program
Employees may participate in a voluntary Employee Wellness Program through HealthWorks. The program provides activities that can equate to points earned towards wellness and paid time off as well as provides resources on various topics.
Recreation Center Membership
Eligible full-time employees are entitled to free membership for all recreational facilities for themselves and members of their immediate household (only applies to individuals that reside permanently in the home of the employee). Employees are entitled to a 25% discount on recreation programs and rentals for themselves and members of their immediate household.
Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time employees are eligible to receive tuition reimbursement related to educational expenses for personal growth and development within their particular professional field as outlined in the personnel ordinance.
