Wyoming Civic Center

The public is invited to join with the Wyoming Woman’s Club as it dedicates an historical plaque for the Doughboy Statue in front of the Wyoming Civic Center on Friday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m.  Wyoming Woman’s Club chose to donate the Doughboy plaque in honor of the Club’s 100th anniversary.

In 1926, the civic-minded ladies of the Wyoming Woman’s Club donated the Doughboy Statue, dedicating it “To the Spirit of Her Youth,” and as a “Testimonial to those men and women from Wyoming who served in World War I.”

Ninety years later, the Wyoming Woman’s Club will dedicate the Doughboy Plaque at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, honoring the time of the signing of the Armistice that ended WW1 in 1918. As in the earlier dedication, a bugle will sound. The Club will present the plaque to Wyoming Mayor, Barry Porter.

Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
