City Silence, created in 2015, is a way to provide a no-cost, barrier-free introduction to silence, meditation, and mindfulness practices. City Silence is sitting together, silently, for a few minutes, or much longer, in city spaces and community places. It is slowing the world down and noticing what we smell, hear, taste, and feel. It is noticing our thoughts as we increase our capacity for stillness, wonder, creativity, and compassion. Local organizers Christine Graeter, Maurice Bason, and Lorraine Horine hope you will stop by the Village Green to sit quietly on one of the benches, Gazebo steps, or your own blanket or cushion, or participate in walking meditation in the grassy area or around the perimeter of the park. We only ask that you respect the silence and enter and exit the Village Green area quietly.
