Leaf Pickup – Mulch Delivery – Storm Damage Yard Waste Pickup

The dates of the spring and fall curbside leaf pick up are always published in several ways including but not limited to: mail, electronic newsletter, website, and social media outlets. Residents are required to keep grass, brush clippings, and other debris (rocks, gravel, trash, metal etc.) separate from the leaves. Leaf piles containing such materials will not be picked up. Such debris can damage leaf collection equipment and injure the employees.

Leaves should be placed just behind the curb in your yard and extend no more than ten feet up into your yard because the hose can only reach so far. Leaves placed in the street will clog the gutters and storm drains and constitute a traffic hazard. Leaf piles blocked by parked cars will not initially be picked up because again, the hose cannot reach around vehicles. If your pile is blocked crews will get it the next time around. Again, it is not possible for the leaf collection equipment to get into such tight areas.

City crews attempt to service each street weekly, but this may vary depending on the volume of leaves in a given week. Do not place leaves in bags. Every effort is made to collect leaves on each street once per week, however this cannot be guaranteed. The accumulation of leaves to be picked up is affected by many factors including the weather and when residents decide to rake their leaves. You may call 513.821.3505 to find out approximate pick up areas on a given day. Please note, these are only anticipated pick up areas. At other times during the year, you must dispose of your leaves as curbside yard waste, which is picked up by Rumpke.

Leaf Mulch
Leaves are composted and ground by the Public Works Department and offered to residents beginning on the first Monday of March. You may call the City Building 513.821.7600 to place an order for mulch beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the first Monday in March each year. Telephone and electronic orders are accepted to assure accuracy of location where you want your mulch dumped. Orders are taken until the mulch is gone. Please check the website regularly or sign up for a newsletter subscription for reminders of the start of “Mulch Madness.”

Residents receiving free mulch are asked to consider making a donation to purchase new trees that are planted throughout the City. Donations may be mailed or delivered to the City Building (800 Oak Avenue). Donations may be made by checks made payable to the City of Wyoming, by cash, or by Discover, Visa, Master Card, or American Express. To make a donation by using your credit card by telephone, please call the Customer Service & Finance Department at 513.821.8044 or 513.821.7600. To print a mulch donation form click .

Storm Damage Yard Waste Pickup Policy (adopted September 2015)
If there is a city-wide severe storm that has caused damage to private property throughout the City of Wyoming, the City Manager may make a determination that storm damage should be picked up by the city. Call the City Administration Building on the first business day following the storm (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at 821-7600 or email Customer Service to verify if the determination to collect storm damage has been made. If the decision to collect debris has been made, the Public Works Department (not Rumpke) will pick up limbs and debris that can be moved from the yard to the tree lawn (the lawn between the sidewalk and the curb or equivalent area). Disposal of entire trees is not permitted. Yard waste and debris will be picked up beginning the first Monday, following the storm so long as it is prepared properly.  Items can be placed in a paper yard waste bag, in a trash can with handles or a lid, or bundled. All bundles must be no larger than 4′ x 2′ and must be tied. If the storm occurs on a weekend, the pickup will begin one week from the first Monday. Public Works will make one pickup per household. You must have your debris at the curb by the first collection date in order to be assured your debris will be collected. If you do not have your debris placed at the curb by the pickup date or if it is not prepared properly, disposal of limbs and brush must be done through Rumpke on regular trash pick-up days (following yard waste collection guidelines).
